OKLAHOMA CITY (May 2) – RIVERSPORT, a leading destination for competitive paddle sports, announces the addition of coach Andrej Crepinsek to its coaching team. With a background in canoe slalom and a commitment to nurturing young talent, Crepinsek’s arrival signifies a significant step forward in RIVERSPORT’s efforts to develop elite paddling programs.

Crepinsek’s coaching philosophy is characterized by enthusiasm, a deep understanding of the sport, and a dedication to fostering confidence and aspirations in every young athlete. Drawing from his extensive experience, including competing at the 2011 Jr. European and World Championships and serving as a training partner to Olympic Champion Benjamin Savsek, Crepinsek brings a wealth of experience and expertise to RIVERSPORT.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Crepinsek to the RIVERSPORT team,” said Mike Knopp, Executive Director of RIVERSPORT. “His dedication to athlete development and proven track record make him the ideal leader to spearhead our canoe/kayak slalom program as we aim to cultivate the next generation of paddling champions.”

In his previous role as Development Coach at Kayak Canoe Club Tacen in Slovenia, Crepinsek played a crucial role in shaping the careers of young athletes. Notable achievements include coaching two athletes to success at the 2021 ICF (International Canoe Federation) Jr. and U23 European and World Championships, where they secured bronze medals and reached the finals. Additionally, Crepinsek’s expertise extended to managing course construction and water levels at major international competitions, demonstrating his versatility and leadership in the field.

“I am honored to join RIVERSPORT and contribute to the growth of paddling sports in Oklahoma City,” said Crepinsek. “My aim is to create a supportive and dynamic environment where young athletes can flourish and pursue their passion for canoe/kayak slalom. Together, we will strive for excellence both on and off the water.”

As part of RIVERSPORT’s commitment to youth development, Crepinsek will lead initiatives aimed at introducing young athletes to the sport in a safe and engaging manner. Through summer camps and structured training programs, youth paddlers will have the opportunity to explore various disciplines, including flatwater sprint and whitewater slalom, under Crepinsek’s expert guidance.

“Coach Crepinsek’s arrival marks an exciting chapter for RIVERSPORT as we continue to emphasize our status as an international destination for competitive sports,” added Knopp.
