Event Overview – ACA Slalom National Championships

ENTRY FEE

As determined by the ACA, the Slalom National Championships event entry fee is $250 per athlete regardless of the number of events entered. The Slalom National Championships event entry is inclusive of the official training period detailed below and also includes a commemorative T-shirt and lunch celebration when racing is completed.

ELIGIBILITY

The American Canoe Association is the sanctioning body of the ACA Slalom National Championships. The ACA Slalom National Championships is open to current American Canoe Association competition members.

For the purposes of eligibility to enter ACA Slalom National Championships, all participants must have a current competition membership through August 23, 2021.

ATHLETE BANQUET

The ACA Slalom National Championships Banquet will be held on Sunday, August 22 after the conclusion of racing.

Athlete admission to the ACA Slalom National Championships Banquet is included in the athlete entry fee. Additional banquet meal tickets can be pre-purchased by family and friends through August 12 for $25 here.

COMPETITION VENUE

RIVERSPORT Rapids was built in 2016 and has hosted US Olympic Team Trials for Whitewater Slalom. The course is 305 meters (1,000 feet) long and drops 510 centimeters (16’ 9”) from start to finish. This recirculated water pumped course is estimated to be level WW III-IV at 10 m³/s (350 ft3/s) flows during a competition.

TRAINING

The official training period of the ACA Slalom National Championships is from Monday, August 16, to the morning of Friday, August 20. Training will be organized in groups according to schedule after the close of event registration. Registered athletes will be provided with an opportunity to sign-up for training opportunities during the official training period.

COMPETITION RULES

The 2021 USA Canoe Slalom National Championships will be run in accordance with American Canoe Association Rules.
