Youth Rowing League

The RIVERSPORT Youth Rowing League gives Oklahoma City area middle school and high school students an opportunity to learn the sport of rowing as part of a school team. No previous rowing experience is required. RIVERSPORT provides coaching, equipment and program coordination.

Each school is required to provide one volunteer or faculty sponsor to recruit students and coordinate logistics. Teams practice 1 to 2 days per week over 12 weeks and race in a season championship under the lights on the Oklahoma River in front of family and friends. The league offers Spring and Fall seasons with championships in May and November.

Established in 2009, the OKC RIVERSPORT Youth Rowing League began with 30 athletes from three high school teams – USGrant, NW Classen and Capitol Hill high schools. Today, the league has grown to 180 athletes from 15 high schools and middle schools including
