Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and get involved with RIVERSPORT! Join us for Oklahoma River race events or get involved with adaptive or youth programs. Our volunteer program is an amazing opportunity to learn about rowing and paddle sports while working alongside world-class athletes and organizers. We’re also looking for volunteers to help with river clean ups as part of RIVERSPORT’s River Protectors initiative.

Want to learn more about volunteering? Join our RIVERSPORT Volunteers Group on Facebook and fill out this form to be added to our list.

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

From Olympic Team Trials to world-class regattas, RIVERSPORT Volunteers make it all happen. Explore upcoming volunteer opportunities for our upcoming events below!

REGATTAS & RACES

Oklahoma River festivals and races depend on hundreds of volunteers each year. Shifts are usually four hours. Whether you have experience on the water or you’ve never been in a boat, we have a place for you!

EVENT ATHLETE HOSPITALITY & INFORMATION

Several volunteer opportunities exist both indoors and outside including working in athlete registration, posting results, answering questions in our information booth, or assisting in VIP or officials areas.

STAKE BOAT HOLDERS

Ensure a fair start for each rowing shell by holding the boats in place on the starting dock!

RACE OPERATIONS

If you have experience as a corporate league rower or paddler, you might be interested in some of our race-specific needs including working on the docks, in the control commission where boats are safety checked, as a launch driver or as an assistant to race officials.

YOUTH OUTREACH

The OKC RIVERSPORT Youth Rowing League is an outreach program that offers rowing opportunities for both high school and middle school students. We are looking for volunteers to assist with coaching and/or mentoring students. Practices are held weekly at various times.

ADAPTIVE ATHLETE SUPPORT

Our adaptive rowing and paddling programs provide opportunities for veterans and others with disabilities to experience getting on the water. Volunteers help move equipment, transfer athletes, or paddle alongside participants offering encouragement.

TRANSLATORS

Do you speak Spanish? German? Lithuanian? International races bring athletes to Oklahoma City, and from time to time we need translators. If you speak a foreign language and would be willing to help, let us know.

DO YOU HAVE UNIQUE SKILLS TO SHARE?

If you have a special skill you’d like to share – you know about race timing, are a PR specialist, know how to weld or are an engine mechanic, for example – let us know. We may have an opportunity for you to get involved in your area of expertise.
