Adult Rowing FAQ

What should I wear?

For your first session, be sure to wear something comfortable such as a t-shirt and shorts or athletic pant, and wear close-toed athletic shoes. Nothing too baggy as clothing can get caught in the seat tracks.

What should I bring?

Bring sunscreen and water bottle, and you may want to bring a change of clothes. Inevitably, you will get a little wet from the water on the oar blades, and it’s nice to have dry clothes to change into for the ride home.

Please don’t bring anything down to the river that you don’t mind ending up at the bottom of the river!  This includes but is not limited to valuables such as watches, rings, necklaces, etc. You will be able to leave cell phones, car keys and wallets In lockboxes located next to the front desk.

What should I expect?

Your first session will be an introduction to the sport of rowing, our facilities and our programs. Participants will watch the USROWING safety video, tour the boathouse and receive an overview of what to expect the rest of the week. In addition, your instructor will begin going over the basics of rowing technique, terminology and equipment.

Where am I going?

The Chesapeake Boathouse is located in Regatta Park on the Oklahoma River, just south of downtown Oklahoma City and the Bricktown entertainment district, at 725 S. Lincoln Boulevard. Parking is available in parking lots on both the east and west side of Lincoln.

Additional directions are available on the website. When you arrive at the Chesapeake boathouse, please check in at the fitness desk, located on the east side of the building.

What paperwork needs to be completed?

You will need to complete a RIVERSPORT waiver for insurance purposes.
