Talent OKC Athlete Talent Identification

Our vision in OKlahoma is to develop athletes for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The USRowing National High Performance Center has played an import role in developing world-class athletes over the past ten years. We have positioned ourselves at the forefront of athlete development in the United States, and with the announcement of the LA Olympics, we are eager to impact the podium from right here in Oklahoma City.

Rowers are the third largest U.S. delegation to the Olympic Games, with 48 athletes competing in 14 boat classes. Of those 48 delegates, 9 came from OKC in the build up to the 2016 Rio Games. We continue to champion our athletes in preparation for the 2020, 2024, 2028 Olympics and beyond. The OKC National High Performance Center’s training facilities and equipment are among the best in the world. Headquartered on the Oklahoma River, the Devon Boathouse is a $10 million, 33,000 sq/ft facility that houses a state-of-the art rowing tank, a high altitude room for training up to 10,000 ft, an indoor propulsion swimming pool, a wide variety of cross training options and strength and conditioning equipment.

Our approach to athlete development is long term, with the goal of our top performers competing at the 2028 Olympics. The target pool of candidates are athletic males and females born between 1997 and 2004.

The Talent OKC Olympic Athlete Identification Program consists of six stages: 1) Talent Identification; 2) Athlete Recruitment 3) Talent Confirmation 4) Talent Development 5) Prime the Champions 6) Bring Home the Gold. To learn more, email [email protected].
