OKC Junior Invitational

The 12th Annual OKC Junior Invitational will take place Saturday, March 25, on the Oklahoma River in the Boathouse District.

More than 500 junior rowers from five states are expected to race on the Oklahoma River in the 2023 OKC Junior Invitational Regatta on Saturday, March 25. Racing will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Boathouse District. Hosted by RIVERSPORT, the regatta is free and open to the public; parking is $5 with proceeds used to support youth rowing programs in Oklahoma City. 

Student athletes representing 13 rowing teams from Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas will be competing on the Oklahoma River in this year’s annual regatta. More than 800 spectators are expected at this year’s event making it the largest OKC Junior Invitational to date. 

Crews from around the region will compete at the 2023 event. Teams include

  • RIVERSPORT OKC Juniors
  • Dallas Rowing Club
  • Hockaday School (Dallas)
  • St. Mark’s School (Dallas)
  • Tulsa Youth Rowing Association
  • Founders Rowing Club (Dallas)
  • Episcopal School of Dallas

The event is an important warm-up for crews as they get ready to compete at the USRowing Central Youth Championships in May in OKC.

About the event

Started in 2011, this rowing competition began with four teams and has grown to include teams from around the Central Region. Coaches and volunteers run this casual regatta, so novice and varsity crews can gain 2000 meter race experience on the Oklahoma River in preparation for USRowing Central Youth Rowing Championship each May.
