The OKC RIVERSPORT Youth Rowing League gives Oklahoma City area middle school and high school students an opportunity to learn a unique Olympic sport on the Oklahoma River. A pilot program in 2009 established the first season of the OKC RIVERSPORT Youth Rowing League with 30 athletes from three high school teams (USGrant, NW Classen and Capitol Hill high schools). The league has grown to 190 athletes from 14 high schools and middle schools.
We are excited to continue this program, offering both fall and spring rowing. The athletes learn to row first on indoor rowing machines and then in racing shells on the water. The seasons are 11 weeks in the fall and spring and culminate with a 500m race for the SandRidge Cup on the Oklahoma River! Learn more about the Youth League Championships. [more]
