Curious about OKC RIVERSPORT Junior Crew? These FAQ’s will get you started!

How many days a week does the competitive team practice?
The competitive team practices 6 days a week Monday-Friday 4-6p and Saturday 9-11:30a.

How many days a week does the Middle School team practice?
The Middle School team practices two days a week on Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6p.

What is the cost?
The Middle School team is $100 per month, and practices 3 months in the fall and 3 months in the spring. The competitive team is $175 per month for 9 months, with a 20% discount if paid all at one time. Scholarships are available for those with demonstrated need; email us to learn more.

Does the team travel?
Yes, we travel around the region and make annual trips to Boston and San Diego.

What is the difference between Novice and Varsity?
Novice is for new rowers in grades 8-12 who are starting or within their first year of competitive rowing. The Varsity team is for second year rowers.

How long is the season?
The Spring Season starts in January and runs through the first weekend in May and the fall season runs from the third weekend in August through the first weekend of December.

Where do you practice?
We practice out of the Chesapeake Boathouse on the Oklahoma River in downtown Oklahoma City.

What should my athlete wear to practice? Does he/she need to bring anything?
Your athlete should wear athletic clothing and be prepared to workout outside, if the weather permits. Make sure to bring sunscreen and a water bottle!

Are there college scholarship opportunities available?
Yes, there are. Most scholarships are in women’s rowing, but there some for men’s rowing as well. Additionally, rowing can help your athlete get into college…colleges love rowers!

Are there carpools set up?
Yes! We have many different carpools set up and we have athletes at the following schools:

What if I want to be on the competitive team but can’t come to practice 6 days a week?
That’s totally fine! Our coaches are happy to accommodate different schedules, and will work with you individually to create a schedule that fits everyone’s needs.
