Running on Water


Running on Water is a series of three “social distancing” virtual 5 & 10K races on the trails along the Oklahoma River, at Lake Hefner and Lake Overholser. You can also run the distances at any location of  your choice. The idea is to get out, have a good run and maybe win a prize!

Every registrant will be entered in drawings for RIVERSPORT passes plus family kayak, SUP and rowing experiences lead by our awesome coaches! Top finishers in each category will get extra entries. No purchase is necessary, however; prize drawing entries may also be submitted by email to with the subject line Running on Water Prize Entry.

Cost: Entry is free for RIVERSPORT Season Pass holders and $12 each for non-members.* Time your run and submit it no later than 11:59 p.m. on the deadline date.

• Running on Water – Lake Overholser, May 11
Complete your race May 11 – May 17.  Times may be submitted May 16-17
Lake Overholser has both asphalt trails and a road with minimal traffic and is approximately 8 miles total; no mile markers

• Running on Water – Lake Hefner, May 18
Complete your race May 18 – May 24.  Times may be submitted May 23-24
Lake Hefner has 10 miles of asphalt trails and roadways is marked every 1/2 mile. Traffic is one way on the dam but it does include a bike/running lane

• Running on Water – Oklahoma River, May 31
Complete your race May 25 – May 31.  Times may be submitted May 30-31
Oklahoma River trails run east/west on both sides of the river, are marked every ¼ mile and are lighted. This would be an out-n-back run.
