The OKC Boathouse Foundation believes the Oklahoma River has the power to change lives – and help Oklahoma City become a stronger, healthier community. In just a few short years, Foundation supporters have seen their vision come to life as people of all ages and from all parts of the city, have become involved in rowing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, dragon boating, adventure sports, running and cycling at the Oklahoma River.
National and international racing events and festivals including USA Canoe/Kayak Olympic Trials, ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships, the international Rowing World Challenge and the annual OCU Head of the Oklahoma have garnered national and international media attention.
The OKC Boathouse Foundation’s National High Performance Center is an official US Olympic & Paralympic Training Site for both rowing and canoe/kayak. RIVERSPORT Adventures challenge people of all ages to reach for the sky, get out on the water or explore the trails. And youth across the state are getting off the couch and into all of these life-changing activities through programs such as FitQuest.
Today, our city is becoming known for our river and the transformational effect it has had on our community. We are becoming known for our growing urban outdoor culture, our iconic row of boathouses, a $45m whitewater rafting and kayaking center, world-class adventure sports, and a racing venue unparalleled in the world!
